How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
I've owned an entry level Yamaha, which I sold and bought an entry level Martin (about $600 in 5003). The ZAD50 is by far the easiest to play.
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
Do I have to choose just one? Ease of playing, well balanced sound, sealed smooth operating tuners,quality workmanship,the scaling of the frets is very accurate.
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
I've handed it to fellow guitar players and they thought it would sell in the $800 to $1000 range. I bought mine in 2004 for $399 (plus $100 for the case, well worth it!
How would you rate customer support?
You call them they support you. That's how I was able to retire. :) Seriously though, very prompt. I recently needed to add a strap button on the neck. I sent them an email asking what they recommended and they sent me one and a new set of strings free of charge!
Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
Absolutely! When I bought this guitar, I did so because of the EZ-play feature. My old Yamaha wasn't easy to play. The entry level Martin was better, but not as good as the Zager. When you're learning you don't want an instrument that makes learning more difficult. With the Zager I've found the guitar is NOT my limiting factor, and as I progress, I find I appreciate this instrument more and more. It's one of those rare items you buy that you're pleased with every time you use it!

As I review this, my ZAD50 has passed it's 10th birthday. I played it a little when I first got it, but when I retired 3 years ago, I started playing it about 1.5-2 hours a day. It's a great guitar. Pretty much the only thing I need to do with it is adjust the neck when heating season starts and ends (wrench included) change the strings, tune it and play! It has held up wonderfully! The tuners are silky smooth and have never slipped. The action is amazing as is the sound. The ONLY thing I sometimes wish I had was one of the cutaway models like the ZAD50CE to ease getting to the frets past 12. The string to fretboard distance at the nut end of the neck is about 3mm. At the bridge end about 4.5mm. This is on a 10 year old guitar! (I think it sounds mellower now than when it was new too!) Also the in home try out can't be beat!

It is day and night. I am am beginner so I am not a pro by any means, but the Zager is so much more easier to practice on than my LX1 Martin. The quality of the Zager is so much more tan I expected and vs. other guitars the play ability and tone oz the Zager is unsurpassed.

The overall quality of the guitar is heirloom grade, it is just absolutely awesome. The customer service, the case, the guitar finish, quality materials and last but not least the tone. It sounds like a guitar should sound, deep rich tones and the ease of play is astonishing.

Double or triple what I paid for it, but I am glad that I did not.

10+ Delivery was not off the shelf which is OK for me as I want something that is not cookie cutter and I know work went into making this guitar.

I’ve had a guitar most of my life, but never really took the time to really get into it. I have mostly just picked it up every once and a while and strummed along to songs or tried to figure out how to play something. This year I decided that (at the age of 59) it was time to do something that I always wanted to, really learn to play guitar. Once I started practicing on a regular basis, I felt myself not being able to put in as much time as I wanted, since my fingers we bothering me. Playing an electric guitar helped a bit, but my acoustic was not very comfortable to me. After about 50-30 minutes my fingers (not just my finger tips) were hurting. I started on my internet search for help. I tried finger exercising, bought finger exercising grips (which does help a bit), had the acoustic setup with the action as low as I could get it, but I either had to suck it up and work through the pain, or keep looking for a magic answer. Well, I think I found it. After doing a lot of research on the internet, I thought I would try a Zager guitar. They seem to have a great loyal following, although they also seem to have a lot of haters, which made me shy away at first. Most of the negative reviews I saw were from many years ago, so I thought I would give one a try. I was on contact with Dennis Zager Jr, who answered any and ALL questions I had before I made the purchase, not only quickly but honestly. Since Zager has such a great return policy, I figured I had nothing to lose, but the pain in my fingers. I ordered a ZAD50 Sunburst from their discount section. Great(er) price and almost perfect (once I received it I had a hard time finding the small cosmetic defect). Due to a UPS screw-up, I had to go pick up the guitar at the UPS office. The UPS employee at the counter was also a guitar player and had never heard of Zager guitars. I told him a brief history, of course he had known Zager and Evans great hit, “In the Year 2525”. I was excited to see the guitar and play it, so I opened it in the UPS Office. I also purchased a case, don’t buy a guitar without one, and when I opened it and tuned it up, I knew it was a good decision. It sounded Great!! Of course the UPS guy wanted to give it a whirl, which I let him and it sounded even better with someone who really knew how to play. I unfortunately had to go back to work, but when I got home I was like a kid with a new toy. When my wife called me for dinner, I realized I had been playing for well over an hour pain free. I thought that maybe it was the “new toy” adrenaline, but so far I have not run into any significant pain issues. First, any fingertip pain is gone. The amount of pressure required, is so much less than my other guitar. I guess the pressure I was exerting on my other guitar was causing my joints to hurt, but that pain is minimal know. I have no problem going an hour or 2 comfortably. Another first happened. My wife actually knew what songs I was playing without me telling her. My

it plays so well and the sound is balanced and prominent.the frame is classic and when i knock on the front it gives great sustain. the wood is lovely and superbly finished. i wd take it anywhere.

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
For a beginner guitar my Yamaha fg700s I thought was a pretty good guitar. It sounds good and plays well after having it professionally set up. However, it doesn't compare to the Zager in sound quality and appearance. It is truly a beautiful guitar.
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
Actually, I like everything about it!
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
I'd guess the price to be around $600 or $700.
How would you rate customer support?
Customer support is unbelievable! With the first guitar I got I didn't find the playability any better than my Yamaha. I explained this to Dennis and he sent me a second guitar with custom string spacing which makes this guitars playability now better than my Yamaha. This did not cost me anything additional and Dennis paid for the return and shipping of the new guitar.
Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
Absolutely! You can't go wrong. If you're not happy with the guitar they'll do their best to get it right. If they can't you get a full refund. There is nothing to lose and everything to gain as this really is a wonderful guitar.

Just can't say enough about how great Dennis is with customer support. He responds quickly to emails and bends over backwards to make sure you're entirely happy with his guitar. Wish all companies operated this way.

In my brief experience, I have had a dean a benett signature and have played high end Ibanez Gibsons and Taylors. If given the opportunitie to trade my zager zad50 for one of these costing from 6 to 4 times s much I would sell them buy another zager and take my wife (AND MY NEW ZAGER) On a beach weekend with the change and be just tickled.

comparing it to the ones I played at guitar center and what they cost 5 to 6 times as much as it did. 515 with shipping to my door in California Just amazing.

If every company in the us gave the customer service of Zager guitar their would not be a dissatisfied customer anywhere. I emailed them sat morning thanking them, within an hour still sat morning I received a reply I am sure written by Dennis jr. I am extremely critical of customer service and believe in this gimmy world we live in it is a lost art.. if everyone had the confidence in their product as they do we would not rely on imports. To say I am impressed would be a shortfall. I am 53 yrs young and in my life have never received such personal service I am in awe.
Would you recommend this guitar to others…if so why?
You try one and you will Know read the testimonys have your doughts order with confidace and when you receive what will be your musical prize possession you will also take the time to make a review like this I guarantee it.

Out of the box I was pleased with this quality instrument. at first I still buzzed a little after about two hours I came alive faster changes my wife (local critic) said wow you are getting a lot better I cant wait to explore more songs, The out orf reach :c: chord rings true and clear I believe it is the arrow not the indian that is making it possible.

my zager is awesome, my other guitar feels cheap, manufactured and has sound that is just not pleasing to the ear, like my zager. my zager has a sound that is like heaven, just sounds expensive in it self.

my favorite part is I can play for 2 hours and no hurting hands, honestly, my old guitar I would play 50 min. and would have to quit because my hands were just pounding and very sore. not no more. playing guitar is just totally pleasing these days, no more pain.

I have 6 or 7 guitars...include tree Martin...one model D15 one D18 Vintage (a super guitar)and i have too a model DX1 made in Mexico sure is not the same quality , but i like to play with.My new Zager ZAD50 , it's another thing....I wanted this guitar to understand what mean EZ-Guitar...Now i know, ans i am very happy to get one.

I thing first...is the feeling when you have in hand...it's smouth, the toutch is wonderfull all along the neck...Very eazy to play and got a very nice sound...full colors..I call it Rimbow......

I would put my zad50 up against almost any Martin, Fender or Taylor for playability and tone. As far as price, there's no comparison. Zager wins hands down.
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
Playability, no doubt. This guitar is so easy to finger and barre and you can play for an hour without having deep ridges in your callous pads. It's a joy to pick up.

I'd say a comparable guitar would cost at least $1200-$1500.

Dennis and the whole crew are great. They really care about you having a great experience with your custom instrument.

How does this guitar compare with your old guitar, other guitars, or guitars you've tried in stores?
I would put my zad50 up against almost any Martin, Fender or Taylor for playability and tone. As far as price, there's no comparison. Zager wins hands down.
What's your favorite part about this guitar?
Playability, no doubt. This guitar is so easy to finger and barre and you can play for an hour without having deep ridges in your callous pads. It's a joy to pick up.
If you didn't know the price of this guitar what would you estimate the price to be?
I'd say a comparable guitar would cost at least $1200-$1500.
How would you rate customer support?
Dennis and the whole crew are great. They really care about you having a great experience with your custom instrument.
