08/29/2006 Hey Dennis,
Got my guitar yesterday. Thank you.
I will not be taking advantage of the full refund (including shipping) because ... I absolutely love the guitar! Not only is it gorgeous, it sounds sooo sweet.
Really -- I couldn't be happier.
Thanks again.

08/26/2006 Hi:
I received my ZAD-50CE yesterday and last night my wife was a little mad about it. I guess I better go back a little in the story;
I am a professional musician which basically means that I have spent countless hours learning, practicing and honing my skills, and ridiculous amounts of money buying guitars that just didn't quite fit me, only to be paid a pittance for what I truly love doing. I have owned and played over a hundred different guitars including my latest revisions, which are a Tom Anderson Cobra, Les Paul Standard and an Ovation USA Custom Elite. In a nutshell I am picky about my guitars. Which brings me to the meat of this story, the Ovation was a beautiful guitar but it just wasn't cutting it.
I made the decision to start looking for a new acoustic electric about a month ago. After many hours and many music stores I had more questions than answers. Was it going to be a Martin? How about a high end Takamine? No, they just didn't quite feel right. Was it going to be a Taylor 314 or 414? Great sound but the price tag was brutal (remember the mere pittance part). After days of indecision and disappointment I decided to look on e bay for some used deals that might be a little more affordable. In my search I came across Zager EZ Play guitars. For about a week I read all of the web site information, ruminated on whether this could actually be true and did my "if it sound too good to be true it must not be true". I decided to make some inquires by e mail on Friday night hoping to get a response on Monday. My questions were answered in literally less than half an hour! Unbelievable. Trying to go to sleep that night, my thoughts were money back guarantee, shipping included, lifetime warranty, affordable price. Saturday I decided that I couldn't lose and I should give it a try. I placed an order on line on Saturday evening. Forgot about the case, and I ordered that on Sunday and sent a message to make sure that the order would be shipped together. I received a response again within half an hour. What awesome customer service!
The guitar arrived yesterday (Wednesday, which is amazing in itself) and when I pulled it out of the case - Score!!!. This is truly a beautiful instrument. The finish (black, I love black) is excellent and the neck is sweet and fast. The intonation is perfect and chords ring with gorgeous harmonic overtones. Which brings me to the reason my wife was a little mad. The guitar arrived shortly after 10 am, I missed lunch. About 7:30 PM she came in to my music dungeon and asked me if I was "ever going to put that thing down". Yes, but only for short periods of time. This guitar is absolutely one of the very best I have ever owned. The quality is great and the sound is beautiful but what really matters is the playability. What Mr. Zager says about your fingers not getting sore is completely true because he didn't put a time limit on it. 6, 7, 8 hours you will start to feel it.
Really, I couldn't be more happy with this fine instrument. Thank you very much for excellent service. By the way, if you have any more of those T shirts in black (black, I love black) and a size large I would love to buy some. I'm going to be a doing lot of advertising for you guys. I'm even going to learn "In the Year 2525". Way to go. Atta Boys! You Rock! Kudos'! Most of all, thank you. |

08/25/2006 Hi Dennis,
Sorry this has taken so long to reply but I just got back to the USA Monday night.
I rec'd my instrument last month on time and in fine condition. Because of this trip, I did not play it much or compare it to my new Gibson J185. Now, that being said, I do have an opinion on both. The ZAD50 did go with me 2600 miles one-way (and back) in the case I bought from you and with a slight handle
modification to the shipping box.... it worked out perfect, no problems...except a few guys at customs wanted a mini-concert while waiting to go through Home Land Security screening.
There was in fact a pretty good garage band waiting for me in Panama and we got down to business for hours at a time,it was big fun. The guitar sounded great before it was plugged in and then the guys wired me up and holy s... wow...it was amazing how clean and clear the tone was. It's a keeper, without a doubt.
Last night I put new strings on my Gibson and spent 2 hrs playing both guitars and ya know what.......the ZAD 50 still sounds better and is much easier to play.
I hate to say that because I like the fit & finish ofthe J185 / the ZAD is no dog, don't misunderstand but for the difference in price, playability and sound your guitar wins.... hands down! |

08/24/2006 As a working musician, I frequently perform 3 sets a night, 6 nights a week which can be grueling on my hands. My $2,000 acoustic delivers a beautiful tone but the neck is bulky and the action is a little high. I decided to research a new acoustic guitar which led me to Zager Guitars web site.
I was impressed by Zager Guitar's testimonials and reviews which inspired me to e-mail them. I was impressed by their prompt and thorough response and I decided on the ZAD-80CE OM. A few days later I received a stunning instrument, sturdily packaged and ready to play!
Pulling the guitar out of it's beautiful chip board hard case (that came with a humidifier sensor) I was immediately impressed how lightweight the ZAD-80CE OM was. The ZAD-80CE OM's high polish and gorgeous abalone inlays glisten against the fine grain of the solid spruce top giving it a look of a $3000 guitar without the $3000 tag.
I love the ZAD-80CE OM's small size and full tone that is equivalent to my more than twice as expensive guitar. The frett-board is smooth rosewood and without any buzz while in concert pitch. The neck itself is much flatter then my $2000 guitar and the action is remarkably low, making it as easy to play as my electric.
The sealed Grover Tuning gears keep the guitar in tune even during my alternate tuning transitions. The Fishman's active EQ, built in the ZAD-80CE OM, has an on board electronic tuner, which is convenient when playing unplugged .
Zager Guitar's positive reputation has grown through old fashion grass roots word of mouth. This enables them to offer quality guitars at affordable prices, AKA musicians on a budget. Best of all Zager Guitars come with a lifetime warranty!
I am proud to endorse a company that cares so much about the quality of their product and their relationships with their customers.
Thank you Zager Guitar!

08/22/2006 Denny:
I received my ZAD 50 CE on Friday, Mar 3. I rushed home from work when it arrived since I had been tracking it from Lincoln, NE to Snohomish, WA and I saw it was delivered. I took it right out of the box and started playing it. I played about an hour and had to get back to work. That night I played at least another two hours. I have been playing about two years now and also have a Fender Strat and a Martin DX-1. I have been mostly playing the DX-1 this past year and have liked it a lot. It has a nice sound and better action than many other makes and models that cost quite a bit more. However, after receiving my Zager I don't really care to play the others. Right now I can't put the ZAD 50 down. It took a little bit of adjustment at first but within a day or so I was feeling very comfortable with it. I have averaged about 3 hours a day for the past 4 days. I wanted to compare the sound and playability with my DX-1 and there is really no comparison. The Zager plays much easier and has a much nicer tone. I find no fault with it. The EZ Play really does make it easier than any other guitar I have tried. Before I ordered the ZAD 50 I asked everyone I met that played guitar if they had heard of the Zager Guitar or ever played one. I didn't find one person in over a year. I had to find out for myself. I can't say enough good things about the guitar. The looks are great; fit and finish are great; sound/tone are great; action is awesome. It just feels so good. My fingers are pretty toughened up from playing a minimum of 1-2 hours a day but this guitar is sooo easy to play. I would highly recommend it for anyone and I do believe beginners would benefit greatly from the EZ Play. I noticed the quality of the Grover tuners right from the start when making some minor tuning adjustments. They're smooth as butter. What more can I say. I love the guitar and would not hesitate buying another one or recommending it to others. This guitar has met, and actually exceeded my expectations.
I also want to thank you for your fantastic customer service. It's not just a ploy to sell the product, it is truly the best service anyone could ask for. You guys are great. Thank you for selling a high quality instrument at a very reasonable price. You have another Zager advocate (groupie) in me.
PS - Thanks for the extras and the Zager T-Shirt; I will wear it proudly.
Sincerely, |

08/22/2006 Denny,
I wanted to let you know that I received the ZAD 50 and have loved playing it. The look is great and the sound is amazing. My friend with a high end Yamaha and a Martin marveled at the sound. In fact, we just returned from a tour of the Martin Factory and didn't find a guitar that sounded as good as the 50. I hope you will let me know when the 80 becomes available.
Thanks for the work you do.
Best, |

08/19/2006 Denny I received my Guitars yesterday afternoon at work and it was all I could do to keep from playing it right there. I also ordered one for my Dad and he loved it also. They are both very beautiful guitars we both got the ZAD-50 black. My Dad had played on and off since he was 9 and I am 27 and a just starting to learning how to play. I bought the guitar as sort of a wedding present for my self and it is so easy to cord than other guitars I have tried to play. The guitars have a sound that is hard to beat. You do quality work and your customer service cant be beat. I am looking forward to leaning through you online classed and hope to be playing very soon. Thanks for the shirt and extras. My Dad just thought it cool to have your autograph on the guitar and on the picture that you sent. I am looking forward to playing with him when I learn how. Thanks again. |

08/16/2006 Dear Mr. Zager,
Wow! your guitar is just wonderful. I don't know how to express my endless gratitude for creating this awesome guitar. The sound is so warm, rich and even. I lead worship for my church so I play lots of fast and slow songs including arpegio. And for my previous guitars, I'd always had to think about how hard I
needed to press and not forgetting the soreness. It was terrible. But after leading worship for 2 weeks now with my new 80CE, the only thing i have to worry about is singing it right. My fingerpicking got better spontaneously and i know it will only get better. I really want to thank God for giving you that wisdom for creating this terrific guitar. And of course, thank you. May God always bless you and your work.
faithfully, |

08/14/2006 Hi Denny & Dennis Jr.
I received my much awaited for Zager Modified Guitar. It arrived in excellent condition, and I am well pleased with the obvious quality in construction, appearance and sound. As I wrote you earlier, I have 56k dial-up, which isn't appropriate for downloading your guitar lessons. However, I'm in process now of changing to high speed internet and I'm looking forward to getting them. I appreciate the quick responses to my questions and the care and speed in getting the guitar to me. I'm sure glad I found you and you certainly make a quality guitar. The only way I can be happier is when I learn to play it properly. Thanks for a great guitar. |

08/14/2006 Denny,
Here is a long overdue note of thanks on my Zager guitar - I love it! It plays very well. I have figured out the tuning thing. I thought I had a good ear, but alas, it is not as good as I thought. I love the tone and richness of the guitar. It has really good overtone qualities that make it extremely good sounding. I am a relative novice picking up guitar after 25+ years. The fretboard gives me plenty of room for moving around as I have large hands. The guitar is beautiful to look at (the cedar and rosewood/split back - are well done), play, and listen to. I am very satisfied and would recommend Zager to anyone.
I look forward to playing everyday! My fingers have built up calluses but the pain from playing long periods does not come. What else can I say? Thanks for offering a product unique in the marketplace and standing behind it such that you put your customers in a win-win situation. How can you lose when you do that? I just wish other businesses would get this.
All the best, |

is in perfect shape.
It is truly a beautiful instrument, and I am sure
that I will get many years of pleasure out of
learning to play on such a fine guitar.
I really want to thank Denny and all of you
associated with Zager Guitar. I feel more
confident about learning to play since I found your web site. With a New guitar and the on-line lesson system I feel very confident that I can finally realize one of my long-time dreams of really learning to play the guitar.
Thank you all very much,

08/10/2006 Hi, Dennis! I wanted to let you know that my guitar just arrived back home, and in great shape. I let it warm up a bit before playing it, and then when I did, it sounds GREAT!! I could see where Denny had filed the frets a bit; and the buzzing is completely gone.
Thanks, again, to both of you for taking such good care of me. It sure is wonderful having my Zager back to enjoy again! In the interim, I reverted to my Fender 12 string. BOY, does THAT make you appreciate a Zager!!!!!! :o) |

08/08/2006 Dear Zager Guitar,
I just received my EZ-Play Zager 50 Acoustic Electric guitar today. It sounds great! I had it shipped to my school, (I am a grade school teacher) and my students and I love it! It is so easy to play, and it sounds "out of this world." I was a little worried about buying a guitar on-line, but all the testimonies sold me. May my testimony convince others that these guitars are a real deal--BUY ONE! |

08/07/2006 Denny, I recieved the ZAD-50 OM today and I must say it is everything that you say it is. The action is perfect and the neck feels like it was custom made for my small hands. The tone is rich and well balanced producing a wonderful sound.
As you know the sound-board will open up with age and it will only get better. Thanks for all the extras. Very nice.
Thanks again |

Thanks for making it easier for a beginner. |

08/04/2006 Hi,
I just got my ZAD-50 Sunburst. I was nervous about spending the money, but am so happy I did. I have developed arthritis in my left index finger and was sure my dreams of learning to play guitar had ended. I found your listing on eBay and consumed your website. I decided to take a chance, purchased the guitar, and was immediately stricken with pangs of buyer's remorse, but your return policy was a comfort in case I couldn't play the guitar.
I must say that the entire shopping experience has been fantastic. Your first acknowledgement of my purchase directed me to your free lessons. The package arrived quickly, and the guitar is beautiful. More than that, the action really is low and while I may never be able to play into some chords, I can already see a big difference between this guitar and all the others in my little collection.
Finally, in addition to your superior service, the high quality of this guitar for the price, and your nifty website, you threw in some surprise goodies. I would think that anyone who found out about you would rush to place an order.
Thank you for this great guitar, for restoring my hope of being able to play, and for all the extras you provide. I wish you great success.
After I wrote my comments, I had so much more I could have added about the tone and about how much fun this guitar is. I understand all the comments about not wanting to put it down. I am so glad I bought the guitar and I am now thinking that aside from the new Zager, my Fender Strat and my Semi-Hollow body which I also think is an excellent guitar, I will sell off the others. They don't compare and I can't see me wanting to fiddle with them any more. Besides, most of them hurt my finger. Not the ZAD 50! It is WONDERFUL!!! I'll probably buy another one some day, even though I don't
need it. I love instruments, as I think they are beautiful works of art, aside from the art they can produce.
Good luck to you, although I don't think you will need it. The guitar speaks for itself and your customer service will put you over the top. |

08/01/2006 Hi Denny,
I just wanted to let you know how pleased I am with my new ZAD50 guitar. At first I had a little issue with string buzz, which took a small neck adjustment, then it played beautifully. I had been looking to buy a Martin D-18V before I made this purchase and I don't know for sure if the ZAD50 sounds as good, but it sure sounds great. I am a new guitar player and started with a Taylor Big Baby on the recommendation of a friend of mine who is a professional musician and song writer. I wished I had seen your ad for your guitars first. Now I have to sell the Taylor on ebay, which was only $50.00 less to buy than the ZAD50. Obviously your guitars are far superior in every way to anything under $1,500 that's out there for sale. I recently went into the Guitar Center here in the Nashville area and had a professional musician/song writer demo about 10 high-end guitars so I could hear the difference between different designs and woods used in making guitars. I found out that the spruce mahogany combination was what I liked best. I am however anxious to hear the cedar rosewood combo. Almost 100% of the time guitar manufacturer's use spruce and rosewood, which is OK, but I have a good idea that cedar is a better choice for rosewood just based on my demo experience with the musician at the Guitar Center. I will be looking to purchase the ZAD-80CE in the near future. Also, I can barre chords easier on this guitar than any of those high-end Martins I played at the Guitar Center.
Once again I couldn't be happier with my purchase! |

07/29/2006 Denny,
I received the Zad 80 back and it sounds wonderful . "It never had this tone or sound before" Tell Dennis Sr. that the new saddle looks great and that
I thank him for the attention and work that he gave to my Zad 80. Also tell me again what name brand strings and size that he put on it.
Again Thanks to you and Tony for all Ya'lls help and prompt responses.

07/27/2006 Denny,
Received my Zad-50 yesterday and couldn't be more pleased. Guitar has the playability of a high-dollar Taylor and the tone as good or better than most Martins.
In fact, I sold a Martin DM to order the ZAD-50. I have owned a number of very expensive guitars and this beats by far the large majority of them. Thanks for your quick turnaround and for an excellant product. For the price, you for sure can't beat it and for much more money it would be hard to beat. |

07/26/2006 Hi, Denny!
I bought my beautiful black ZAD-50CE back in November and I love it! My guitar-playing friends commented on the great action and tone. Could you please send me the link to the restringing instructional video? Thanks for the great guitar and service!

07/23/2006 Well all the waiting paid off big. After first seeing your web site I was intrigued but scpteable.then I did research, Then made the decision and ordered it WOOOW!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am very impressed and I don't impress easy. This guitar plays as good as my Taylor 710 ce and I have to say looks much better,All the inlay is perfect and one beautiful finish,I've been playing for over 30 years and owned a lot of guitars this one feels ,sounds and plays like it was built just for me and since I'm the only one to play it I think it was. Thank you so much for building great guitars and I will show it off proudly! By the way id make a bet that after the bunch i hang with your going sell a few more. Proud owner of a Zad 80 Ce guitar |

07/23/2006 Ok, Ok, you are right! I admit it! These are GREAT GREAT GREAT GUITARS. I have been playing the new ZAD80 guitar constantly these last two weeks. Either my ear is adjusting to the sound or the new wood is coming alive before my ears. Two weeks ago, the day it arrived, I was almost ready to pack it up and ship it back but now you couldn't pry it from my hands. I look forward to playing it each evening when i get home from work. It is so much easier to play that it is a joy. I play much longer without hand fatigue.
I have an insurance issue I could use your help with. You may recall I purchased this to replace my beautiful 40 year -old rose-wood Aria dreadnought (sImiliar to your ZAD80) that had been customized at the neck sort of like you do with your guitars (though not as well). It was in great condition, since I had done a fret job on it just two years ago. My insurance agent wants something signed by a Luthier verifying its value. So here is my questIon. The luthier that did the work on it has gone out of business, or at least I can't find him anywhere. He had told me two years ago that guitar had appreciated to $1500 because of its aged wiid and how the sound had become so rich and with the extra work done on it. Could you folks tell me what such an instrument would be worth so I can give that to the insurance company. Just curious.
Thank you for your persistent support of my many questions. I will be raving about Zager design guitars in every church were I play praise music. |

07/20/2006 Dennis, Thank you for the prompt response (as usual). Since I shipped my guitar back to you for repairs last week I have been playing an acoustic Alvarez I bought about 25 years ago. I had a luthier set the Alvarez up shortly after I purchased it and I thought it had a good, low action. I hadn't really played it since getting the ZAD50CE that I purchased from you last September. When I did, I immediately noticed the difference. The Alvarez was noticeably harder to play, especially when hitting barre chords up the neck of the guitar. I can't wait to get my ZAD50CE back!
I have held off on sending any testimonials so I could give the guitar and Zager Guitar a good long term evaluation. I have been completely
satisfied with the manner in which you handled my purchase of the guitar. I love the appearance, tone and playability of the ZAD50CE I purchased from you. Even more, I have been very impressed with your service after the sale.
Please feel free to add this to your website and thank you again for a job well done. |

07/17/2006 I received my ZAD80CE in Lac La Biche, Alberta, Canada in perfect condition on Feb. 17, 2006. My first impression was
wow and that continues every time I pick the guitar up. I'm a reasonably good guitar player, I back myself up as a singles act, a lot of rhythm guitar with back up picking. I can tell you already that the picking part has improved. This guitar makes you want to work as it sounds so good. I like it straight acoustic, but I love it plugged in.
Yesterday, Sunday February 26, I practiced tunes for at least 5 hours, 3 hours the day before etc, etc. Guess what, no sore fingers. I have an epiphone acoustic electric that has
a very slim neck, but if I played that much my fingers would complain. Soundwise, plugged in, the Epiphone doesn't compare. The fishman electronics are far superb. Zager does not ship guitars out of country, so I had this shipped to a friend in New York, who forwarded it to me via Fed Ex. It arrived in Lac La Biche in 7 days. Amazing!!!! Not everything was perfect however. I would like to thank Denny for the extra set of strings and capo he sent.
Another really neat thing is: I bet I'm the only person with a Zager guitar for miles and miles.
Again, I woould like to thank the Zagers for producing such a fine instument at a reasonable price. |

07/15/2006 Dear Zager Guitar,
I received my guitar today, a ZAD-50BK, and I want to tell you my feelings but first a little background. I played semi-professionally for a few years when I was in high school and college. At the time, I stuck to popular electric rock, blues, and "fusion" jazz, both with and without band accompaniment. The music was timeless, Led Zeppelin, Kansas, Santana, Hendrix, etc., maybe as complex as badly recreated Return to Forever, Mahavishnu, and Larry Coryell. When I needed an acoustic sound, I made due with a friend's guitar, or at one time even purchased an inexpensive Yamaha. I was lucky, the guitars I chose always sounded really good, but I can't say they were the easiest to play. Sore, even bloody, fingers were to be trade hazards. Hey, we were young. Then, life took me away from music, and for the last 20 years or so, I would pick up a guitar occassionally, but I always felt like my muse had left the building.
Recently, my young daughter got interested in music. She sings in chorus and has even soloed a time or two. She started to learn music theory and would come to me with questions, or just to show off what she had learned. It started getting me to feel like my musical life had not yet ended. So I picked up my trusty Yamaha SG-2000. For those not old enough to remember, that's an electric solid body inspired by Carlos Santana, my guitar hero back when I started in the 70's. It's got a big heavy brass plate in the body and is probably half my daughter's weight (a joke, but it's pretty hefty). I started to talk to her about music and show her some concepts on the guitar. Then comes the kicker. My daughter tells me she would like to learn how to play the guitar. My heart jumped. I didn't think it wise, having been a kid once myself, to invest a lot in a guitar. But I started looking at guitars. I started on a Yamaha classical. I still have it and it even still sounds good after 30+ years, but it's full size and the action...well forget it for my little sweetie.
For my daughter, I ended up getting a 3/4 scale guitar made by Luna. It's cute. You can write on it. It doesn't sound too bad. It was inexpensive. It is all black except for the white accents and she likes it. 'Nuff said. Anyway, I started looking at acoustics at the local guitar retailer. We have a pretty healthy chain store here in Miami and a couple of decent smaller retailers. I went to all of them. I got an education on what has been happening since I stopped playing. Manufacturers are making acoustics out of EVERYTHING. Graphite, carbonates, polymers, laminates. I played a lot of guitars. I was a bit frustrated. I found guitars that sounded right, but were hard to play. I found guitars that played nice but sounded cold. If I wanted to spend a couple of grand I could get a Taylor or a CHEAP Martin or Breedlove, but I just didn't feel like I deserved that much guitar for my current state of technical decline. I did what all frustrated shoppers do when they're looking for a bargain...I went to e-bay. It was there that I happened upon your company.
At the time your rating was at about 1000 sales with 100% postive feedback. I looked through the ads. Hmmm...solid spruce top, mahogany back and sides, 50% Easier to Play...100% guarantee? Yeah, sure...my kid is just about the age to question Santa's existence, but I past that stage at least a couple of years ago. I went to the website.
After about an hour on the site, pouring through testimonial after testimonial, reviews, Denny's graciously provided video clips, I felt like a Branch Davidian 6 months before Waco. I was really stoked. I was humming "In The Year 2525". I just had to check this out. And how could it hurt? I e-mailed just to ask them to pinch me to see if I was not reading something right. And THEY WROTE BACK...EVERY TIME...and fast. So then I agonized about which guitar to choose and came up with a brilliant idea.
I figured if you go into a burger joint and order their most simple burger, they should know how to make it to impress you. They should know how to earn your trust so you will come back to order more elaborate things on the menu, maybe even invite your friends to go too. So, I ordered a ZAD-50, and just as an added bonus, I figured my little one would be jazzed if I brought home a guitar that looked like her's. And just to be sure, I had it sent to the office, just to protect against the Baloney Factor of internet purchase.
I popped open the box and took off the wrapping. I cannot say enough about my introduction. This guitar is one beautiful burger. It looks great. In the black, the abalone detail just jumps out. It sounds great. For what I paid, it is bigger and warmer than I expected. And it plays great. Not a buzz to be heard and the feel is sweet, even close to the nut. I only hope I can improve my technique so I don't sound like a bull trying to open a twist-top.
It is honestly refreshing to do business with a company that truly does what it says it will do, in the time it says it will take, and give you a product that is as good or better than what it describes. If you are reading this, do the comparison yourself. Don't take my word for it if you don't want too. Me? I'm calling my friends. Thanks. |

07/15/2006 Thank you Zagers! I just wanted to write and tell you how much I love my ZAD 80. I won't waste both our time with more lavish praise, because you guys know you do what you do incredibly well, better than 99% of the people out there. I just want to thank you for my new love. There is something about the feel of this guitar that other acoustics just can't touch. Its beauty, craftmanship, playability all come together to create something far greater than the sum of its parts. I feel as if it will come alive in my hands and lead me off into the woods. I truly love this guitar (my girlfriend is jealous).
Again, thank you for enriching my life. When I first started playing I took a few lessons (mainly worthless) and my instructor explained how some players develop skill in jumps, then settle at a plateau level for some time. Well, he was right, and this guitar enabled me to make my first jump to the next plateau. Thanks so much.
All the best,
ps - Are you as good at creating online lessons as you are at everything else? If so, here I come. |

07/15/2006 Dear Denny Zager,
Well, add me to the legions of fans who love your guitars. I have had my ZAD-80 for 2 and a half weeks and I have played it every day. The action is everything you advertise it to be. My friends and I used to take our guitars to a violin maker in Texas back in the 70's. He improved the action by lowering the nut and the saddle and filing the frets, but none of those guitars ever reached the quality of the action on this guitar. It is like having an acoustic with the playability of an electric.
The sound of the guitar is excellent. My only fear was that the lighter strings might not produce a strong enough sound, but the sound is great. I have been playing guitar for 35 years and the last 22 years I have been playing a beautiful Martin D-25 Koa guitar. The sound of the Martin is superb, but my fingers don't last long. The difference with the Zager is phenomenal. Not only is it easier on my fingertips, but it is easier to perform challenging fingerings. So far, the only difficulty I've encountered is my tendency to press down too hard. I can see now that I long ago learned to press down extra hard whenever a fingering was difficult. Then my hands would get strained more quickly. And by the way, the sound of that cedar/rosewood guitar is very similar to the mellow sound of the koa guitar.
The other thing about this guitar is the way it stays in tune. You don't have to tune it often at all. After watching your video on intonation, I immediately tested it on my guitars. Both the Martin and the Zager had perfect intonation, but an inexpensive Alvarez was significantly off on the 2nd string. I told a friend about your method of changing strings, including keeping the winding on the top to improve the action and he was blown away that he had never known this. He's been playing as long as me (and much more and much better).
Perhaps because I am using extra light strings now, and certainly because of your videos, I find that I am ready to change strings much earlier than I ever did in the past. It's like my sensitivity to the sound of the guitar has grown more refined just since getting this ZAD-80 in my hands.
Thanks much for making this high quality guitar available so inexpensively. And thanks for the quality of your customer support. I am sure I will be back for more guitars; my son is a guitar player and now my daughter is getting interested. |

07/11/2006 Hello Dennis!
Thanks for e-mailing me back!! Don't send me another guitar. The only thing that was wrong with this one, is the idiot trying to play it. All I had to do is turn off my TV and computer and everthing works great now!The tunner works just like you said it would and after removing the clear plastic against the saddle, the sound is unbeleaveable!!!Got a good friend who wants to trade me his Martin D-28 straight across. I told him to get his own Zager, cause he an't getting my ZAD80CE!! You guys got the best coustermer service on the planet. Thanks for everything and a special thanks for this guitar. If it had brown eyes and dark long black hair, I would sleep with it!! It is beautiful. Thanks again! |
