Tuning An Acoustic Guitar
Nowadays tuning a common acoustic guitar has become a real challenge since everybody has an electric guitar and most of the fixing and checking is done automatically. But you can still do it. But before you get started and tune your acoustic guitar make sure you got at least one good tuned string and some pitch pipes or tune fork ready so you can do this. Next you will need to play the tune fork or pitch pipes until you hear a perfect E note. After that, you should take a string and tight it until you hear the same sound.
Usually you should use the thickest string (the low E) when you want to obtain that perfect E. Afterwards you should hold the fifth fret and pluck the string. The fifth string should be an A that will have the same pitch you will use to tune the next thickest string. You must tune this string of the acoustic guitar until can play it along with the fifth fret of the low E string.
By this time both the fifth and sixth string of you acoustic guitar should be tuned. Maybe now is the perfect moment to try to obtain a perfect D note. You can do that by holding the fifth string and the fifth fret and you will need it so you can tune the third string.
After you are done tuning the thickest strings of the acoustic guitar all you need to do is to continue the process until you get all the notes perfectly. For example, to obtain a perfect G you should hold down the fifth fret and the third string and play it until you hear the note.
